I'll Try Anything Once

Monday, February 21, 2011

This is actually the earlier version of 'You Only Live Once' by The Strokes.
This version is amazing.
I've always love this version and hearing Julian Casablancas' voice really makes my day. His voice in this earlier version is somewhat soothing and lovely.

Ten decisions shape your life,
you'll be aware of 5 about,
7 ways to go through school,
either you're noticed or left out,
7 ways to get ahead,
7 reasons to drop round,
when i said ' I can see me in your eyes',
you said 'I can see you in my bed',
that's not just friendship that's romance too,
you like music we can dance to,

Sit me down,
Shut me up,
i'll calm down,
and i'll get along with you,

There is a time when we all fail,
some people take it pretty well,
some take it all out on themselves,
some they just take it out on friends,
oh everybody plays the game,
and if you don't you're called insane,

Don't don't don't don't it's not safe no more,
i've got to see you one more time,
soon you were born,
in 1984,

Sit me down,
shut me up,
i'll calm down,
and i'll get along with you,

Everybody was well dressed,
and everybody was a mess,
6 things without fail you must do,
so that your woman loves just you,
oh all the girls played mental games,
and all the guys were dressed the same,

Why not try it all,
if you only remember it once,
oooh ooooooh,

Sit me down,
shut me up,
i'll calm down,
and i'll get along with you,

(okay one more time)

Ces't La Vie

"We gallop through our lives like circus performers balancing on two speeding side-by-side horses--one foot is on the horse called "fate," the other on the horse called "free will." And the question you have to ask every day is--which horse is which? Which horse do I need to stop worrying about because it's not under my control, and which do I need to steer with concentrated effort?"
Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)

"Almost everyone in heaven has someone on Earth they watch, a loved one, a friend or even a stranger who was once kind, who offered warm food or a bright smile when one of us had needed it. And when I wasn’t watching I could hear the others talking to those they loved on Earth: just as fruitlessly as me, I’m afraid. A one-sided card cajoling and coaching of the young, a one way loving and desiring of their mates, a single-sided card that could never get signed."
Alic (The Lovely Bones)

"Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music; perhaps . . . perhaps . . . love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath."
L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Avonlea)

"One of the greatest myths in the world - & the phrase 'greatest myths' is just a fancy way of saying 'big fat lies' -- is that troublesome things get less & less troublesome if you do them more & more. People say this myth when they are teaching children to ride bicycles, for instance, as though falling off a bicycle & skinning your knee is less troublesome the fourteenth time you do it than it is the first time. The truth is that troublesome things tend to remain troublesome no matter how many times you do them, & that you should avoid doing them unless they are absolutely urgent."
Lemony Snicket (The Ersatz Elevator)

Don't Hope For The Hopeless

Why should I ask for the forbidden fruit?! hmm...

P/s: This is just my metaphor.

The signal is subtle
We pass just close enough to touch
No questions, no answers
We know by now to say enough
With only simple words
With only subtle turns
The things we feel alone for one another

There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden

So I won't sleep if you won't sleep tonight

Our act of defiance
We keep this secret in our blood
No paper or letters
We pass just close enough to touch
We love in secret names
We hide within our veins
The things that keep us bound to one another

There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we must do
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden

Until the last resilient hope
Is frozen deep inside my bones
And this broken fate has claimed me
And my memories for its own
Your name is pounding through my veins
Can't you hear how it is sung?
And I can taste you in my mouth
Before the words escape my lungs
And I'll whisper only once...

There is a secret that we keep
I won't sleep if you won't sleep
Because tonight may be the last chance we'll be given
We are compelled to do what we have to
We are compelled to do what we have been forbidden

The King Of Limbs

Friday, February 18, 2011

Actually I've known about this one before but I didn't have time to update my blog. I've been real busy these days. My robot competition is next week and I still work on the programming for the robot. I really hope I can finalize it soon.

Okay. So here's the story. I read the news from NME. Apparently Radiohead will release their new album, The Kings Of Limbs tomorrow, Saturday. Hooooooooooorayyyyyyyyy!! (^_^) I'm so happy. I can't wait since I love Radiohead. I think Thom Yorke is a genius. ;)

The album is available as a newspaper edition or digital download. You can download it at £6 and the newspaper edition is at £30. I'm not sure what newspaper edition supposed to mean but I think according to their site, you will be given a CD, two vinyl records and 625 tiny pieces of artwork.

For more information or better if you want to get a copy for yourselves, go to KingofLimbs. The fact that they don't reveal the track listing makes it even surprising.

P/s: I think 2011 is lovely. Radiohead's album, The Strokes' album are coming and soon to come; Sum41's , The Kills' and Arctic Monkeys' album. ;)

Under Cover Of Darkness

This is the latest single from The Strokes. It's available for download, go to TheStrokes to download your copy. I've read Julian Casablancas' tweet about this download, so I quickly go to the site.

This song is currently playing in the loop of my playlist. HaHa. It's good to finally hear The Strokes again.
God, this is great. It makes me crazy thinking about their new album. I can't wait no more.

My habit has taken its toll on me

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Seriously I have this habit of eating only when I have time or when I have the mood or when I'm not lazy to go out to find some food. Basically, I rarely eat like normal people. I mean normal people should eat at least 3 times per day; breakfast, lunch and dinner respectively. But I don't do such especially when I'm in campus.

I think seeing me eating breakfast is quite impossible even when I have an early morning class. Usually I'll eat either lunch or dinner. If I have eaten lunch, there's no need for me to eat dinner. This explains why I'm petite and thin, I don't think I fall into the skinny type. Haha.

One meal is enough for me. Honestly, it's not! But I don't really have that much time to go and find some good meal. Okay. It's a lie! Let me re-phrase it, I like to think I don't have time to go and buy some food. Besides, if I'm not in the mood to eat, I don't eat. Living in campus, you need to find your own meal, no one's gonna cook for you and yeah we don't have kitchen in our hostel. Due to doing such things, I've been getting gastric every now and then. Even my doctor advised me to change my eating habit. Yet I'm so stubborn.

And today, I've only eaten once. Breakfast+Lunch+Dinner all combined in one meal. This is normal for me, but tonight I had a very painful stomachache. It's gastric of course. I was in the lab finishing our robot, and gosh every time I laugh or I talk, it felt like there's some sort of acid being injected in my stomach. No sign of food in lab so I had to bear the pain for a little while.

By that time, I realized that my habit has taken its toll on me. I should care about my health. This is getting way out of hand. Another habit need to be changed is procrastination. Don't you think whenever you put something off, there's always a heavy price to pay.

I have so many things ahead of me for now. This week I have 3 exams coming, assignments to submit, some projects and finally our robot for the contest. The contest is just around the corner and we still haven't finish it.

I guess a pocketful of luck would have been great at a time like this. ;)

Nando's big transfer

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

If you're a football fan, you know what I'm going to write. As of today, some were shocked with Fernando Torres' big transfer. He has signed a contract with Chelsea. As we all know Chelsea is one of Liverpool's biggest rivals. Few of my friends a.k.a avid supporters of Liverpool were all upset, unhappy and sad when they heard the news. I heard it from my dad. Even I was shocked at that time although I kinda knew that he's going there. Yeah you know the rumors.

I understand why some of my friends were making a big deal out of this issue. Yeah it's simply because out of many places to go, why go to Chelsea. They said that at least if he were to go to another league, it would have been somewhat relieved. Besides he kinda put hope to the fans saying that he's loyal to the club; he said that he'll never play for another club in Premier League.

I guess it must have been heart-wrenching. But I think he has a right to think of his career and like he said

"I felt from last summer that I need to do a step forward in my career and for my ambition as a footballer".

Being his fan, one should respect his decision. Besides, this transfer thingy is inevitable. I think he did say that he wanted to go to a club that's gonna win the title of league, something like that. Anyhow, you can't keep one person forever in a club. But then looking at their captain, I'm somewhat amaze at Gerrard. You know, he's loyal to Liverpool, at least for now.

Few of my friends were so devastated that somehow they even want to burn or throw away their Torres' number 9 jersey. But I know they're not gonna do so. They just said that out of sadness.

About the transfer, I think let's just support him and I know Liverpool is going to find another hero. Honestly, I feel like I'm in no position to say anything. So let's stop here.

P/s: I'm indulging in the past memories when Henry left Arsenal.
