RIP Amy Winehouse

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Today, Amy Winehouse tragically passed away. At first, I saw the timeline in twitter and I thought to myself, it was another prank considering she doesn't score a lot of points in the like department.

So I didn't believe it, I was like, oh crap. Another joke about someone's death. But then again, when something like "RIP Amy Winehouse" flooding your timeline from the likes of NME, AltPress and others. I googled the news and yes, she's dead.

We lost another talent. Despite her bad reputation and massive amount of mess she made, I appreciate her talent. She's one of my fav female singers.

She has this strong jazzy voice with an authentic British voice. I love listening to her songs, I kid you not, I sing to her songs as well. Her lyrics gave me chills. Her voice soothes me somehow.

Damn it, so young. So young indeed. But death is certain, everyone will eventually dies, the only differences are how and when.

And yeah drugs are not hip. It reminds me of Kurt Cobain's death at the age of 27. I was still young at that time, but I knew him. I grew up with Nirvana's songs.

RIP Amy Winehouse. You are loved.

Here are some of my fav songs from Winehouse. Enjoy

Arctic Monkeys did a cover for this song, as much as I love Alex Turner, I still think Amy's version is the best. Unrivaled vocal. The lyrics hold perfect meaning. I've never delete this song in my playlist ever since I heard this one.

I cheated myself,
Like I knew I would,
I told you I was trouble,
You know that I'm no good,

Thinking on you in the final throes,
This is when my buzzer goes,

I love the part when she sings "His message was brutal but the delivery was kind". I'd repeat this part every time I hear this song.

"You should be stronger than me"..

A symphony

Friday, July 8, 2011

To live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury;
and refinement rather than fashion;
to be worthy, not respectable;
and wealthy, not rich;
to study hard,
think quietly,
talk gently,
act frankly;
to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart;
to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never;
in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden
and unconscious grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.

Angelic

Monday, July 4, 2011

I don’t have time to be in love
Kissing you on the cheek, 200 times a week
I don’t have time to be in love
Watching a foreign film, feet on the windowsill
But that’s not true when I’m with you

I don’t have time to be in love
Way too much candlelight, keeping me warm at night
I don’t have time to be in love
Cooking a meal for two, climbing all over you
But that’s not true when I’m with you

Cause I used to be there for you when you were so blue
I’d walk with you in the rain
Nothing was better when we did it together
I don’t have time for love

I don’t have time to be in love
Holding you to my chest, feeling your every breath
I don’t have time to be in love
Laughing so hard we cry, sometimes I don’t know why
I don’t have time to be in love
Maybe this revelry just wasn’t meant for me
But that’s not true when I’m with you
When I’m with you

P/s: Priscilla Ahn, she never fails to amaze me with her angelic voice. It gives me goosebumps hearing her voice. Awesome..!! The video is perfect with her cute charm. ;)

Tension of Opposites

Saturday, July 2, 2011

This is taken from Tuesdays With Morrie written by one of my fav authors, Mitch Albom.

"Have I told you about the tension of opposites?" he says.

The tension of opposites?

"Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.

"A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. And most of us live somewhere in the middle."

I'm in the middle of tension of opposites.

I have no idea what should I do, yet.

I don't like to weigh my options.

Hmm..

Transformers: Dark of The Moon

Few days ago, last day of June, I went to watch Transformers: Dark of The Moon with new set of friends.

It was awesome but..There's a but in my statement!

I couldn't say I had a pretty full course of satisfaction right after I watched it. It's like there's something missing. I've waited quite long for this film to hit cinema and yes I was agitated to watch it. But umpph, there's something missing.

I honestly think the CGI is marvelous. All the robots looked uber-cool in defined details, the action looked compelling and convincing. All of us audience could follow the pace of the actions unlike in the 2nd installments.

But the film sans the cheap romance and jokes would have been better. The jokes were cheesy and lame.

The new cast,Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was another eye-candy after Megan Fox. Both have the similar attributes, they can't act for sure! But in a heartbeat, I'd choose Fox.

The villains on the other hand lacked of something. There were few plot holes in rising the villains' plot of making their own ploy. Sentinel Prime's betrayal didn't look convincing at all.

Sentinel Prime, the main villain looked frail to me. Shockwave, the serpent-like robot is very amazing, it looked cool but yeah, he didn't do much of anything. Megatron barely existed in the movie.

The flow of the story is not even coherent. It's like there's not enough relation/explanation from one to another scene. Not even sync to the previous installment. What happened to the Cube's knowledge in Sam's brain? Too many questions in my mind. Forget it.

All in all, the movie was still awesome with stunning effects. It's far better than the 2nd installments.

The most eye-popping moment, is by watching at the sleek autobots (Mirage, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Sideswipe) in their car modes. Did you see Mirage in car mode? It's red Ferrari 458 Italia. Sizzling hot!

Well I always have a thing for sports car. As a matter of fact, when I was a kid, I wanted to be a racer. Pfft..How pathetic. haha.

Okay. For those who still haven't watch Transformers, watch it and entertain yourself but don't expect too much. Haha. :D

P/s: Laserbeak is cool..!
